Jen Bekman Gallery is pleased to present Ideal Bookshelf, an exhibition of works on paper and book signing by artist Jane Mount. Late last year, Little Brown published My Ideal Bookshelf by Jane Mount and Thessaly La Force, which features more than one hundred of the artist's illustrations along with essays from the leading cultural figures whose favorite books are depicted in gouache paintings by the artist. During the opening reception, Mount will be signing copies of the book.

This exhibition is the first time the most prominent members of the faculty of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing have been exhibited in New York City. The extraordinary works on display represent years of rigorous training and creative experimentation that mirrors the demanding education offered at both institutions. Everything from open form, gestural figurative works to the most exacting renderings of the human form are on view.

Tribeca Ball 2013 (April 8, 6pm)
Sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, this live-action art party kicks-off with cocktails throughout the building as guests mingle with artists in over 100 studios. Live entertainment and interactive surprises make for a spectacular evening and draws a wonderful mix of art stars, celebrities and collectors. Recent attendees include President Clinton, Justin Timberlake, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany. Tribeca Ball raises scholarship funds for the Academy’s talented emerging artists.
MFA Open Studios (April 19, 6-9pm)
Held annually at the end of the spring semester, this free event presents a rare opportunity to view work developed by the Academy’s more than 100 MFA candidates. Artists and faculty are on hand to answer questions and interact with visitors outside the traditional gallery setting.
MFA Thesis Exhibition (May 14-31, 2013)
The culmination of two years of intensive skills training and conceptual exploration, this exhibition presents the best works created by the Academy’s newly minted MFA recipients. Past show catalogues have featured essays by Jonathan Goodman, Donald Kuspit and Jerry Saltz.

Seventh Annual Summer Exhibition (June – July 2013)
A group featuring original work selected from over 650 submissions by distinguished jurors from the art world. Past jurors include artists Eric Fischl, David Salle and Will Cotton, curators Carter Foster and Clarissa Dalrymple, gallerists George Adams, and Matthew Flowers, and writer/critics David Ebony and Steven Zevitas.
